I'm a little torn about this list. A couple of these I didn't see on purpose, betting on their appearance on this list, and that I'd be able to see them at AMC's Best Picture Showcase, which I'm trying to buy tickets for even as I type these words. I've gone to the Showcase nearly every year since 2006, and it's inevitably fun, although there have been a few years where my butt hates me before all of the movies are done.
This year, I'll be seeing the five movies on the right of the image above: Hugo, The Help, Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close, The Artist, and Midnight in Paris. Two of these: The Help and Midnight in Paris, I've already seen, but I loved them both, so chances are good that I'll be sticking around even if Midnight makes the final showing of the day. Is this list perfect? No, I'd rather be seeing War Horse than Hugo, but that's just me. It would also be the first time in six years of my attendance that I'd been totally happy with how the schedule worked out.
Right now, I'm torn between Midnight or The Help. That may change before I'm done, but it's really going to have to be good to beat out Rachel McAdams or Emma Stone. Who are you rooting for on the big night?
